Bon Chic Life
I have fallen in love..again.. with this city.
Fashion Week was hands down one of the best weeks of my entire life. Working 14 hours a day really paid off when I got to photograph both BCBG and Herve Leger shows. Both collections were absolutely beautiful and it was an AMAZING process to be a part of.
My internship turned into a social media internship on the first day. I shadowed the director of graphic design/social media. Most (all) of my online time was dedicated to to the BCBG and Herve Leger social media outlets. You all MUST check their blog because it is amazing (and I posted it in too!) | www.bonchicblog.com |

Bonsoir
I made it to Paris and I am quite obsessed. This is the most beautiful place I have ever been.
This week has been quite crazy. It was our "orientation" week at the American University of Paris. I feel like I got more things accomplished this week then I have in a year. I found an apartment, moved in, picked my classes, set up a france phone, got wifi in our apartment, got to know the metro, and really learned how to utilize those paper things called maps. I have also gotten to meet a lot of my new classmates, explore the city a little, and go out and have drinks with my friends.
I am in love with the architecture here, the food, the people, the language, and the city as a whole. It's such a different world over here, and it's been fun learning the social norms and ways of living. I can't wait to get to know this amazing city, and I really can't believe that I get to call this place home for the next 4 months.

Roar
Bee here blogging from my iPad on the way to NYC! I am munching on my Kit Kat minis and I'm about ready to get off this plane and stretch my legs!
In honor of Katy Perry's new single "Roar" I thought I would post about some things I've been dealing with the past couple weeks, and I'm sure some of you could relate. With new schedules to adjust to, a new place to live and being newly single, I've had quite the emotional roller coaster these past few weeks. Not only have I learned to just get back up when I have fallen even if I've felt a little discouraged but to ALWAYS surround myself with positive people. I truly believe you are who you hang out with.. To an extent. My friends are all wonderfully unique but we all have such a positive outlook on life and it has really afected me to be a better person.
So for those of you who haven't heard Katy's new song, it might give you a little inspiration to keep moving forward no matter what or who has been in your way or raining on your little parade. Lets face it: we all want to be happy!!
This is my "roar" to my friends, family and whoever else reads our blog! I am SO excited to see what this week has to offer.
Also: thanks mom for telling me this my whole life, I'm finally getting it.. Wink wink.

Au Revoir
Tomorrow at 11:25 AM I will be boarding a plane at John Wayne Airport and be on my way to Paris. I am so excited to start my journey! I have never been to Europe before, so this will be quite the adventure. As I told you before, I am going with one of my best friends, Jenna Marshall. Right now I feel nervous, happy, a little anxious, but mostly ready to go. I have been awaiting this trip for some time now, and it's sort of surreal that tomorrow is the day. Tomorrow is the day I leave my comfort zone. I will no longer be in my little Orange County/ Santa Barbara bubble. I will no longer have my family at my finger tips and a car to quickly escape. These next four months I will grow, learn, make mistakes, meet new people, see new things, get lost, explore, and fall in love with one of the most adored cities in the world. I can't wait to see what everyone is talking about, this city called Paris.
I haven't posted much this summer, so I thought I would share my summer by a couple pictures.
I picture myself blogging a couple times a week in the coffee shop around the corner from my apartment in Paris. I am going to try and update as much as possible!

August Rush
Recruitment is over (why I haven't posted in 2 weeks) and classes have started up here at U of A and Sea leaves TOMORROW for her semester abroad in Paris! I can't believe how fast this summer went by, but it was sure one for the books.
I am excited to announce that this Sunday I am heading back to New York for Fashion Week! I will be interning for BCBG as well as other Max Azria brands. I will take lots of pics and hope to post as much as I can!!

Empire State of Mind Part 2
So it is my official last night here in the Big Apple and I am listening to "Empire State of Mind" by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys. I am listening to this not only because I am reminiscing this summer, but because my friend Charles and I sang..no..belted this song at a karaoke bar the other night. Probably one of the funniest moments of my life.
I wanted to conduct a list of the 10 most amazing things I love about this city.. and you guys would probably too. (in no order)
1. FASHIONNNNNNN. Obviously. I really feel like I have really been able to express myself here because I can wear whatever I want, and I really don't care what other people think. I also LOVE people watching and seeing what people wear. Once a New Yorker puts on their headphones, the streets turn into their own personal runways.
2. SHOPPING. Obviously, but seriously one second you're walking off the subway and next second you're on Bleaker Street feeling like Carrie Bradshaw. Did I mention I once spent 3 hours in Saks and didn't even buy one thing?
3. MUSIC. From Frank Sinatra playing in swanky restaurants..to the small bands playing in the subway station..it's all amazing.
4. WALKING. Just being able to walk from various locations and experiencing all the beautiful neighborhoods.
5. ROOFTOPS. You really find beauty in every rooftop view because it is a breath of fresh air from the stuffy interiors of the city.
6. PEOPLE. I can be at lunch one moment with a friend and next at a charity event meeting the beauty editors of Teen Vogue and Harper's Bazaar (yes this really happened). Only in New York you can meet so many different types of people that work in the coolest professions.
7. CENTRAL PARK. Running, walking, biking, singing, dancing, tanning in this park is so relaxing. There are so many different trails and lakes, it is so calming to get lost there (in the daytime of course.)
8. BRUNCH. My favorite meal of the day. Every restaurant has amazing brunch and it doesn't matter how many of you are crowded at the table..because the food is amaze. Whether you want to turn it into a social event or just eat at a quaint little cafe with your roommate...it's the best.
9. BAKERIES. I have had probably a million croissants and cupcakes..and I do not regret any of them. I HIGHLY recommend the almond croissants from Epicerie Boulud.
10. ARCHITECTURE. They call it the concrete jungle for a reason.... the buildings here are absolutely beautiful. Some are rustic and run down, others are elaborate and have..central air. Some are hidden gems because the outside looks basic and then you walk inside and you're in a 5 bedroom house with a backyard even though the building is in the middle of a bustling street.
This city has the ability to shape someone into being the strongest person that they can be and I really felt like this has happened to me. NY has helped me open my eyes to a whole new world. I am constantly learning new things everyday.
So let's hear it for New York,

Star Struck
This summer has been a complete whirlwind. I have felt so many emotions while spending my time in New York City.. and right now I feel like I'm on top of the Rock(efeller center).
My internship with Gucci has honestly been absolutely amazing. I have fallen in love with the company and everything that goes with it. At times, my internship consisted of not the most glam tasks but I think I have learned more this summer than I ever had, not only about big fashion corporations, but myself.
I am not ready to leave NY yet, hopefully I will be back very soon. I feel like I am finally adjusting.. it has all gone by way too fast. The weather is beautiful, I have made amazing friends, and I have set new goals that I wouldn't have even thought of setting for myself. I have even reconnected with family members that I haven't seen in 15 years!
As I sit in my studio apartment that I share with my great friend, Danica, I truly feel blessed. I am reflecting on my summer and I am not ready to say goodbye, so for now..until next time Manhattan.

Bill Cunningham
This week I watched the amazing documentary, "Bill Cunningham New York." It's about a 80 year old photographer who rides his bike all around New York City taking pictures of street style. He could care less about the status of a person. If Blake Lively was wearing a boring outfit (which would probably never happen), he would take a picture of the girl next to her dressed in an amazing outfit with a coat and headpiece on. Bill knows fashion. You will fall in love with him in this documentary. I smiled and laughed my way through the whole film. He reminds me of my Nana in a lot of ways. This is a must see! It's on netflix and I know most everyone has a netflix account, so go spend this gloomy saturday afternoon watching this film.

Whitney Eve
Recently I got this Whitney Eve outfit. I am absolutely obsessed. My shirt is called the T-shirt Blur & my pants are called the Slack Pant Blur. I can't wait to wear this outfit all over Paris. What I love most about these items, besides the amazingly soft materials, are the print. I have already found so many different ways to wear these two pieces and I'm so glad that they are new members in my closet.

Cool Runnings
Good morning upper west siders (wink wink) and to all our other followers! It is a scorcher out here in New York today, and even though I put a little bit too much cream in my vanilla iced coffee.. things are still looking up. I am currently sitting in an air-conditioned-blasting-starbucks trying to drain out the buzz of frappuccinos blending by listening to Lord Huron. Shout out to my twin sister, Erin for letting me download her whole itunes library into my Iphone.
Although I am not at the beach this summer I am making myself not feel so homesick by living vicariously through Facebook photos of all my friends cooling off at the beach (probably not the best idea because it's making me a littleee jealous). I have been enjoying rooftop tanning and..air conditioned Starbucks... a lot. Hopefully I will make a weekend trip to the beach before I leave this state.
I hope you are all attempting to stay cool, I know I am.

Rush Hour
I have FINALLY got my air conditioning to work (for now) and I am sitting on the couch in my apartment reflecting on my week so far. On my days off from Gucci, I am working for a designer named Alessandra Meskita and I love it! Her clothes are luxurious and sporty, and I am working in her amazing apartment located right next to the Plaza Hotel.

Make an Inspiration Book.
Want a fun project this summer? Make an inspiration book. I was assigned this in my "Careers in Fashion" class, and I'm having a blast. Buy a book with blank pages in it. Fill it up with pictures, quotes, and whatever else that you can glue on paper that inspires you. Don't think too hard about it. Let your hands do all the work.
